After UFC on FOX 25 the spotlight was on Chris Weidman after finally snapping his losing streak. And rightfully so, Weidman looked like his old self and was able to overcome a knockdown in the first round to submit Kelvin Gastelum in the third. However, the early prelims were really exciting to watch and 3 fighters on the rise deserve all our attention going forward.
It won’t be long before you see these three men getting bigger bouts as they fight their way into the rankings. How far they can go after that depends on them, but we surely believe they have what it takes to build a name for themselves in the upcoming months.
Shane Burgos
The Bronx-native Burgos first appeared in the UFC in December. In his debut fight against Tiago Trator in UFC Fight Night 102, besides his slick boxing skills, Burgos showed that nothing gets in the way of a win, not even his hair. In something you don’t see in the cage everyday, Shane asked his corner to cut his hair between rounds because it was getting in his face.
In his second fight he beat Charles Rosa by TKO at UFC 210 and earned the bonus for Fight of the Night. Shane proved that his striking is a dangerous threat to anyone in the featherweight division. His aggressive style of pushing the pace, walking forward with a low guard and relying on his head movement to close the distance and deliver some power shots is unique.

Last Saturday Burgos dominated veteran Godofredo Pepey, although he was unable to put him away early, his performance was as good as it gets. Shane remains undefeated in his MMA career (10-0) and now has 3 wins in the UFC Octagon.
